Introduction: Setting the Stage for Clinical Sociology
The evolvement and realization toward clinical sociology are inevitable with the current state of society and the push by proponents to move beyond the fundamentals of sociology. Discussion on sociological roles and functions among scholars propels some sociologists to further question the “so what” of their acquired knowledge and its dire implication onto society. This chapter covers the basic discussion on the current state of affairs of sociology as well as highlights the various roles that sociologists can and should play within the basic and applied sociology continuum. This chapter also covers historical development and the potential of clinical sociology.
